Toxic job posting times – DEV Community

I understand that the current market heavily favors employers and employers are probably inundated with applications. I am sure it is hard to filter through such a large volume of applications. I am sure there are some low quality applications and people who are applying to positions they are not qualified for.

Regardless, reading job descriptions lately, compared to a few years, are generally less inspiring and less motivating to apply to. It feels like most descriptions are written to scare as many applicants off as possible with exhaustive technical requirements.

I find it motivating when a company talks about their product and their culture and provides a little detail about their tech stack and invites people to apply and grow within their team. I enjoy mastering a variety of technology to accomplish my work, but when I see a posting that seems obsessed with listing every technology they use and warning people who didn’t use that exact stack to not apply, I lose interest in applying.
