Buyers found for Suma Park estate on Bellarine Peninsula

Suma Park at 2135 Bellarine Highway, Marcus Hill, has sold after more than a year on the market.
The landmark Bellarine Peninsula estate Suma Park is set to remain a popular wedding and conference venue after new owners were secured for the property.
RT Edgar Bellarine agent Felix Hakins revealed he’d closed the deal to sell the 40ha property at 2135 Bellarine Highway, which overlooks the townships of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale from Marcus Hill.
Mr Hakins, who had listed the property in conjunction with Elders Geelong agent Peter Lindeman, said he couldn’t disclose the sale price.

But it’s understood the property has sold for more than $10m.
“I can’t disclose the price there but it will set a record for the area,” Mr Hakins said.
“The purchasers will be keeping it running as it is and running further weddings and accommodation there, so it’s going to be freshened up which is great for the area,” Mr Hakins said.
Mr Hakins said the buyers were local, which would be “great for the area”.
Suma Park is a popular accommodation and wedding venue near the end of the Bellarine Peninsula.
“The vendors are very happy it’s passing over to hands that can see the uniqueness of the property they offer and they said is a big jewel in the peninsula.
“It’s probably the most attention we’ve had on any campaign we’ve managed in all my years in real estate.”
The estate was reportedly linked to Geelong’s Christian College before the owners placed the property on the market in early 2024.
Suma Park is considered a jewel in the crown on the Bellarine Peninsula and has self-contained cottages, an established vineyard, its own cricket oval and private train platform on the Bellarine Peninsula Railway.

Briseis is one of two horses James Wilson trained to Melbourne Cup wins.
The home dates back to 1888 when it was established for renowned racehorse breeder and Melbourne Cup winning trainer James Wilson.
The heritage listed home was designed by JT Conlan with spacious rooms adorned with ornate fireplaces and high ceilings with stunning ceiling roses.
A stained-glass window of Melbourne Cup winning horse Briseis remains a feature in the home.
Wilson is also connected to the earlier St Albans Homestead in Geelong’s eastern suburbs, also designed by Conlon.

One of the property’s many eccentricities is the Mistress’s Cottage, a two-bedroom Victorian home within the cottage gardens which was originally built to house Wilson’s young mistress.
Heritage listed stables which are used as a picturesque wedding venue can stable up to 12 horses.
A conference centre is capable of hosting diverse events, with facilities including a full kitchen, games room, and an indoor swimming pool.
