What Caused the Nevro Data Breach?
The Nevro data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. At this early point, Nevro doesn’t appear to have issued a press release or posted a website notice discussing the incident. And the company’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas provides very limited important information on what led up to the breach.
Based on the available information, we know that Nevro recently completed its investigation into a data security incident. Ultimately, Nevro’s investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access confidential information that had been provided to the company.
Importantly, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Nevro’s IT network was compromised; it could be that Nevro is reporting a third-party data breach targeting one of the company’s vendors or partner companies.
Either way, after learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Nevro reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, financial account information, medical information, and health insurance information.
On April 3, 2025, Nevro filed notice of the breach with the Attorney General of Texas. Typically, this is around the time that companies also send out personalized data breach letters to those whose information was affected by the incident. However, the timeframe here may be different. Regardless, once sent, these data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
