What Sydney prices buy in Darwin

The average cost of a house in Sydney has soared to more than $1.4m but what will that get you in the Darwin property market?

The latest data from PropTrack shows the median house price in Sydney increased 3.55 per cent in 2024 to sit at $1.443m.

In comparison, the Darwin median house price increased 0.2 per cent last year to $577,000.

In Sydney, buyers need to shell out at least $1.28m for a two-storey home on 252sq m at 153 Elara Blvd in Marsden Park, which is 50km from the Sydney CBD.

An hour from Sydney city in Cobbitty, a four-bedroom home at 44 Freshwater Drive is on the market for $1.3m.

While a five-bedroom family home sitting about 40 minutes from the heart of Sydney at 10 Regal Ave, Kings Langley, is going under the hammer with an auction guide of $1.5m.

In the NT’s capital, $1.4m will nab a family home on 880sq m at 97 Cullen Bay Cres in the exclusive marina estate of Cullen Bay.

For about $1.32m buyers can lock down a five-bedroom Darwin elevated walking distance to the Nightcliff foreshore.

The PropTrack data showed the median dwelling price in Darwin was sitting at $503,000 in December, down 0.2 per cent annually.

The average cost of a unit in the Darwin dropped 0.86 per cent in 2024 to $374,000.
